Covid Vaccine Age Denials

We began giving the Covid-19 vaccine to ages 12yrs and older on 5/12/21, the day it was approved by the CDC. We’ve had some issues with United Healthcare and affiliates and a few other companies denying the claims stating that due to the patient’s age (for kids under 16 yrs) , this is experimental and not covered.

I called UMR/United Healthcare today and they still don’t have their systems updated to show the start date of coverage for ages 12 yrs and older as 5/12/21. Any idea how I can get this corrected so we can get paid for the admin fee?

I would suggest writing a letter to the Insurance commissioner and copy it to United Healthcare as well stating their lack of coverage. They will usually go ahead and pay before the investigation by the insurance commissioner
