I was thinking of getting a Biofire for my office and I was wondering if any was using it and how was billing
We have been using it for about 2 months now. Our physicians LOVE it because they have a definitive answer as to what kind of respiratory illness kids have (and confirmed PCR result). We have received some push back from parents who don’t want to pay if they have high deductible plans – I’d say there are several plans still paying under the COVID cost-share waiver, but some do not consider the Biofire as approved under the waiver in general. We have 6 of the clia-waived analyzers and they are running all day – each test takes about 45 minutes to complete. It’s very easy to use. Next fall they will have strep as part of panel, which will be even more helpful.
